Sandra Cheah
Board Certified Music Therapist, accredited by Certification Board of Music Therapist, USA (Licensed no. 13849)
Previously, I worked in UCLA Mattel Children Hospital in Los Angeles and specialized in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Neurologic Music Therapy whereby I provided rehabilitation services through music to premature infants to young adults. Currently, I work with both pediatric and geriatric population and am the only one in Malaysia that provides heartbeat recordings services for end of life patients and their families. I also work with the Malaysian Association of Paediatric Palliative Care (MAPPAC) to provide music therapy perinatal and paediatric bereavement services to patients of Tunku Azizah Hospital (formerly known as KL Women and Children’s Hospital).
I truly believe that music has the ability to hold a vulnerable space when words can’t, and that it can turn what could possibly be a traumatic experience into a memorable one.
